o CPP rate is 4.95% upto a salary of $55,300 (2016:$54,900). The basic exemption remains $3,500. Thus, the CPP maximum in 2017 is $2,584.10 for employees which the employer matches.

o CPP has to be paid for those between age 60 to 64.

o EI rate for 2017 is 1.63%. The salaries up to $51,300 (2016: $50,800 at 1.88%) will have EI on them as applicable. Thus, an employee in 2017 will pay $836.19 (2016: $955.04) and the employer pays 1.4 times these rates.
